Role of Interior Decorators
On the basic level, the job of interior decorators is to beautify a given space. For example, if a person has bought a house and is thinking about how to decorate it, these designers are the ones who help to make the house a good looking home.

To start with, they first survey the house and discuss with the owners about the room allotment. Then they discuss the kind of look the house must have. Some people like a Tuscan feel, some like it contemporary, some want it designed in accordance with the Victorian style, and some like it in the traditional form. Once these are decided, the designer starts to work on the colors that would suit the walls. Sometimes, the walls are given a special effect by changing texture. Then the furniture is selected. Depending on the area of the rooms and the house, the furniture is decided on.

Then are the bathrooms; where the color scheme is extremely important. If it is big by itself, the designer can add many features that can help accentuate the look. However, if there is a space crunch, it is the designer’s job to make arrangements to make it look bigger. Selection of accessories, curtains, statues, and lighting are also part of the job.

Though this is the basic premise of the functions that an interior decorator follows, the scope has increased considerably. In the recent past, a designer is involved from the time the blue print of the building is being created. Though this is the job of an architect, there are people who are particular about the space allocation and also attach great importance to Feng Shui. They want particular rooms in particular corners. So the interior decorator provides inputs on how the structure should be designed so that the space is properly utilized and is also in accordance with the client’s needs.
